Metro Mama & Metro Baby

By Kim Taylor

When birthday celebrations fall in the winter months, city parents can head to Baby Moves & Perry Street Kids for a wealth of fantastic party options. There’s a party style for every age group at this charming venue tucked away in Greenwich Village on cobblestone-lined Perry Street. Younger children can romp on slide and climbing equipment in a soft, mat-covered play area in the loft, and older children can opt for bluegrass, rock ‘n’ roll, art, yoga, dance or science parties. In fact, Baby Moves & Perry Street Kids can tailor a party to suit any need or theme.

The best thing about parties at this kiddy hotspot is that everything is taken care of for you. A party “host” with a helper not only engages the children in song, games, play and instruction, but sets up the food, cuts and distributes cake, oversees the entertainment, keeps the party moving, distributes goodie bags, helps you pack up, cleans up, and gets the guests out of the door (which is sometimes the hardest part).

Ask for Amy to oversee your party – she’s a magical Mary Poppins who can engage a dozen unruly kids with a wave of her tambourine. You supply only the children and the cake (and any food and refreshments you’d like), and Baby Moves supplies the rest, including plates, cups, forks, ice and merriment. Basic party price is $395 plus activities, starting at $30 per special activity. Parties last 90 minutes.
