Metro Pets

By Yasmin Jorge

I always enjoy candy and java, but am more selective to keep the pounds and jitters under control. However, there are two treats I discovered recently at the Chocolate World Expo in Westchester that I will indulge in guilt-free: Gourmet chocolates and artisan specialty coffees for people that help homeless animals.

Moon Doggie Coffee Roasters partners with rescue groups to raise much needed funds for shelter pups, such as basset hounds, greyhounds, and even therapy dogs in-training. Serious coffee-drinkers will appreciate full-bodied, deep and rich brews achieved through Arabica specialty grade beans, hand-picked and sorted directly from farms and estates, and roasted fresh in small batches. It’s like having dessert in a mug, consider unique blends such as cinnamon sticky buns, hazelnut macaroon, and other exotic flavors! I’ll easily have a second cup while petting my two beagles, both rescues. Moon Doggie Coffee Roasters is based in Northeast New Jersey. http://www.MoonDoggieCoffee.com and 1-888-JAVADOG.

Rescue Chocolate offers top quality vegan chocolate perfectly paired with other ingredients and spices to yield super yummy bars: Peanut Butter Pit Bull, Pick Me! Pepper, Foster-iffic Peppermint, and others, will please discerning connoisseurs and dog/cat-lovers alike. From each chocolate purchased, 100% of the net profits are donated to animal rescue organizations around the country. So I’ll devour an entire bar, then take my American Dingo for a long walk. He too was once homeless. Rescue Chocolate is hand-crafted in Brooklyn. http://www.rescuechocolate.com and info@rescuechocolate.com.
