There seems to be model searches everywhere you look – on TV, in magazines and in malls when you go window shopping at lunchtime. And not just for humans either, canines are just as sought after too. A few months ago, Poochey Couture (http://www.poocheycouture.ca) a dog boutique in Montreal, Canada held a dog-model search where dogs were invited to compete for a page in the company’s 2011 calendar.
Why should you get one of these? All proceeds from the sale of the calendar, due out this fall, will benefit Hereditary Breast Cancer Research at McGill University. So next year you may have to sacrifice your hot fireman calendar for a cute canine one instead.
Another pooch related charitable project has been spearheaded by Planet Dog (http://www.planetdogfoundation.org) which launched the 2010 Romp-a-thon. This program has the company donating 100% of the proceed from the sales of their Orbee-Tuff Glow For Good Balls going to their Planet Dog Foundation. This charity trains, places and supports dogs who work to help people in need. The Orbee Ball is available in pet stores nationwide.
Yummy treats for cats and dogs that help local rescue organizations and animal shelters is Moochie & Co (http://www.moochieandco.com). Twenty-five cents of each bag of Moochie treats goes to the charity fund. So far the company has donated to Greyhound Adoption and the Adopt-A-Husky.
