It’s something your cats crave and if they don’t get it, they seem to bounce off the walls – catnip! You can get regular catnip from the store, no doubt. And your kitty will be happy. But why not have some fun with the catnip toys from the The Catnip Café? (

Encouraged by her daughters one holiday season, Linda Carr the owner of The Catnip Cafe decided to make handmade toys. Linda personally hand makes every order. She seems to have a tremendous sense of humor because not only are these products beautiful and functional, they can’t help but make you smile.

Summer is here and what would summer be without a nice juicy slice of watermelon? Invite your cat to the picnic and let him taste a generous slice filled with 100% organic catnip. Your cat will eat these cat toys up. No need to worry about the seeds! Perhaps, he’d rather other juicy fruits instead like cherries? It’s just the right size for your kitten to carry around. All these fruit toys are made with extremely plush and soft minkee fabric, and absolutely no pits. Other fruit toys at The Catnip Café are bananas, strawberries and apples.

What parent doesn’t want their kid to have a generous helping of vegetables on a daily basis? So get a crop of cucumbers ready to go. Fresh from the garden, these handmade, hand-stitched, handpicked toys are also filled with organic catnip and are very durable. There are carrot catnip toys, pickles and even a hot pepper.

Linda recently developed smaller toys so that cats can have options with different sizes. Her catnip cupcakes are about 2 inches big while her pizza slices are a little bigger at twice that size. Apparently, she has been “baking” around the clock to bring you her new line. The cupcakes and pizza are handmade from assorted 100% cotton fabrics and backed with extra soft minkee fabric, filled with lots of organic catnip. There are 6 different varieties of cupcakes with jimmies, cherries, sprinkles on top.

And if your cat is the rough and tumble type who is more roaring lion than purring pussycat, then he will love the ruff-n-tuff cat toys. The striped toys shaped like cats are sturdily stitched and made from extremely soft, yet durable faux fur. The tail is a great way for your cat to drag his toy around the house. Takes a beating!

You can order from The Catnip Café through their website, or by phone at 610-687-2863 between the hours of 9am to 5pm M-F, and 11am to 4pm on Saturdays. If you are the instant-gratification type of shopper, you may have to learn patience! Linda makes these toys when she receives your order, so be prepared to wait 7 to 14 days before they arrive at your doorstep.
