A luxurious fur coat is decadent and cozy, a winter fashion option that envelopes you against the cold. With all the beautiful faux fur options on the fashion scene today, there is really no need to wear real animal fur anymore.

You’ll look nothing less than fabulous in Roberta, from the Charly Calder Faux Fur ( collection. This classic style “mink” coat even has pelt lines, for a warm, stylish statement. Or opt for a modern silhouette with the Casablanca coat, also a faux mink design.

Mink not you thing? How about “chinchilla”? The Charly Calder Tiffany is a beautiful faux chinchilla with brown/cream/black color-blended coat. It’s extremely soft and fluffy, 1/2 inch thick of fake fur wrapping you in a warm layer.

It seems that you can pick up an elegant accessory that boasts it is faux, only to be surprised later that it’s actually made from real fur. For fur free retailers and designers, check out the list at The Humane Society Of The United States.

If you have a fur in your closet that you can’t bear to wear or even just grew tired of, donate it to the Humane Society’s Coats For Cubs. All of the furs received by the HSUS are sent to wildlife rehabilitators, who use the furs to warm and comfort orphaned and injured wildlife. The furry blanket becomes a surrogate mother to orphaned animals, reducing stress and giving comfort. The HSUS accepts all fur apparel such as trims, hats, gloves, and muffs.

Donating is easy. Mail it to the following address:
The Humane Society of the United States
2100 L St., NW
Washington, D.C. 20037
Attn: Coats for Cubs

Another way to donate furs is to drop them off at Buffalo Exchange. The HSUS is partnering with Buffalo Exchange, now through Earth Day, April 22, 2008. You can bring your fur to any Buffalo Exchange store and let the staff know it is a donation for The HSUS.
