St Patrick’s Day is March 17th, a day for all things Irish and green. In New York City the St Patrick’s Day Parade starts on 5th Avenue at 44th Street at 11am. It marches past St. Patrick’s Cathedral (of course!) past the American the Irish Historical Society at 83rd, where the Parade ends, about 3pm.
In honor of the patron saint of Ireland, this Parade is said to be largest and the oldest in the United States. The first parade was held in 1762, by a band of homesick Irish ex-patriots and Irish military serving with the British Army stationed in the American colonies in New York City.
On this day everyone is Irish!
If Shamrocks and “Kiss Me I’m Irish” logos are not your style, then you should pay tribute to the day a little differently, and do it with panache! Watch the parade with your pooch, wearing more than your share of sparkling accessories.
