The pet food recall has gotten out of hand. So many brands aren’t safe anymore, with updates being issued almost daily by various companies. Not only are dog and cat food on the recall lists, but it seems that some pet treats have been tainted as well. It doesn’t matter if the brand is expensive, or holistic.

To keep yourself updated and your pet safe, please go to the Food and Drug Administration site (www.FDA.org) to read their latest press releases.

For a complete list of all the brands that have been recalled so far – the FDA link is www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/petfoodrecall/#All

If you are concerned about your pet showing symptoms that could be linked to eating contaminated food and it’s after regular vet office hours, or you can’t get your vet on the phone, you can call in case of emergency:

ASPCA’S Animal Poison Control Center
Tel: 888.426.4435

If you would like to take a break from retail pet food, check out some of the recipes at www.simplypets.com/pet-recipes. You can find treat and medicinal recipes as well.
