My favorite part of gift giving (and gift receiving — hint, hint!) at the holidays is buying lots of small gifts. Here are a few ideas for Christmas stocking stuffers and Hanukkah gifts for the animal lover.
Grab the cheerful hand-painted Wooden Photo Frame from Up Country (order at http://www.upcountryinc.com) The paint is lead-free and non-toxic so it’d make a great gift for a child’s room. They come as a magnet or tree ornament. Choose between the Cat And Flower, or Dog And Hydrant. Or get both!
Also from Up Country (order at http://www.upcountryinc.com) are adorable Key Rings, mimicking the same material as leashes and collars. These would be perfect for a dog walker or a neighbor, anyone who has a key to your abode. There are a variety of styles including one that says Dogs in different languages – Chien, Hund, Perro. And another key ring in Dog Talk – Woof, Grrr, Arf!
I’m obsessive about being organized so I love everything in the Container Store (http://www.containerstore.com) and the fact that they have same-day delivery in Manhattan. How easy is that for the time-hampered shopper like me.
Gifts appropriate for traveling to grandma’s during the festive season are the Animal Toothbrush Holder great for travel or everyday use. Each has two suction cups that attach to a mirror, tile or other smooth, non-porous surface.
Also, the Critter Luggage Tag is available in a frog, ladybug, monkey or penguin. It’s a fun and whimsical way to identify luggage, a laptop case or diaper bag.
I want this for myself, the Parisian Ring Holder by Umbra® Ooh-la-la! The French Poodle Ring Holder is the perfect size for securing rings on the bedside table or next to the sink.
For the paper clutter that never seems to go away, give Dog Paper Clips or Dog Bone Paper Clips. These brightly colored clips lend an imaginative touch to a stack of paperwork at home or in the office, while helping prioritize projects. And is a whimsical (yet practical) gift for a co-worker.
Check out the Container Store at 629 Sixth Avenue (212) 366-4200 or 725 Lexington Avenue (212) 366-4200
Happy holidays and happy giving!
