Remember back in January, when I got the best haircut ever? Well, it was Vincent Da Silva at the Gil Ferrer salon who made me beautiful with my stylish hair. I found out that Vincent also spends a lot of his time making others more beautiful with makeup on the most important day of some girls’ lives!

Sitting with the cappuccino that I was graciously given when I walked into Gil Ferrer salon, Vincent explained to me the basics of bridal makeup. “First, every woman must read 'The Wrinkle Cure' by Nicholas Perricone, M.D." He says as he gets excited and searches for the book. I haven’t read the book front to cover, but if he likes it, by golly, so do I.

His make-up box is bigger than my pathetic NYC apartment. Here are his basics:
MUST-HAVE
Vincent never leaves home for a wedding without his Lancome Palette Mix. He insists that this is a product that every woman should have. It reduces redness and brings dull skin to life.

POWDER POWDER POWDER
Don’t forget that you will have these pictures for the rest of your life. Keep powder in your purse (or your bridesmaid’s purse) for the duration of the night. You do not want your forehead to create a glare in the camera lens…yuck!. Also, don’t get your makeup done too far in advance…go straight into pictures…common sense girls, really. Vincent prefers MAC powder, and to bronze he simply uses a darker shade.

LIPS
Depending on the size of your lips and the look you’re going for, there are different techniques. Gloss will make your lips look bigger, creating more highlights and dark colors with close off your lips with shadow. “Keep your lipstick with you at all times,” advises DeSilva.

Below are pictures of the genius at work. In this case he used only one color on the bride creating a very funky and modern look:
