Skin Care

By Patricia Wersinger

In this time of greening the world over, it is not a surprise that most new skin care lines have adapted their formulas and become much more natural, using botanicals instead of synthetics or petroleum. As the dangers lurking in many traditional formulas become better known, it is especially important to introduce teen girls to brands that respect these new norms. The new Bellaboo skin line, an Australian brand created by Snezna Kerekovic is made specifically for girls between the ages of 8 to 18 with these health priorities in mind. The formula is stripped of all the old “nasties” as some like to call them such as parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, artificial colors, fragrances, mineral oils and animal derived ingredients.

The secret of the line lies in its use of powerful botanicals that work with every skin type to bring it to an optimum state of balance. One of its most active ingredients is Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil, an active source of anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Sea Buckt horn has a high content of antioxidant rich minerals, vitamins and a powerful source of Omegas 3, 6, and 9 including the elusive essential fatty acid, Omega-7, vital to collagen production. One of its best properties is to bring back the skin to hormonal balance whether it is dry or oily.

The Collection includes a three step system as well as a treatment line.

The Clean Skin Facial Wash with Organic Sea-Buckthorn, Berry and Lemon Myrtle removes make up and impurities without drying out the skin’s surface.

The Buff Skin Facial Exfoliator contains micro-particles of finely grounded Bamboo extracts. It respects the skin’s natural moisture levels while ridding the surface of old skin and impurities.

The Gorgeous Skin Moisture Dew is an ultra-light oil free moisturizer that nourishes the skin and helps keep it in balance.

The treatment line includes the E Z Blitz Serum designed to “blitz sitzs”. The Clear Skin Smoothie Face Mask is an anti-acne intense treatment mask that attempts to draw out impurities, reduce inflammation and help clear the skin without stripping it. Bear in mind that formulas that strip oil out of the skin only cause the skin to produce more oil so Bellaboo products balance the oils rather than repressing them.

The Berry Nice Face Fix Mask smoothes the skin’s texture very gently leaving a velvety softness and The Sweet Sin Chocolate Face Mask contains mineral rich Kaolin Clay with cocoa which draws out impurities and boosts hydration.

Teenage girls care a lot about how products smell and the scents in Bellaboo’s products are delightful and not artificial. My two teenage daughters love these products, and I love that they’re getting good skin care habits at an early age, and learning to take care of their skin with pure products.
