Skin Care

By Candice Sabatini

I have to say that I really liked the look of the former NV Perricone, MD Cosmeceuticals packaging. The beige and brown medicine-y labels had an image I could relate to. But as the product line expanded, it became overwhelming to navigate the selection, and with all the labels so similar, it started to become a blur, and so a new look…a packaging facelift was in order.

As of last month, the doctor’s got a brand new bag… as well as a new name, now more simply called PerriconeMD Cosmeceuticals.

The new boxes are color keyed so selection is less confusing: soft green for Age Prevent, brown for Age Correct, soft blue for Skin Clear, silver for Targeted Care and dark grey for Age Less. Positioned this way, it’s now easier to go to the group of products that targets your skin type and then select the products within the range. Additionally, the new jars and bottles will utilize airless technology for better product preservation and efficient usage.

Those lucky enough to live in or visit New York can go to the one and only Perricone store located on Madison Ave amidst the swanky Upper East Side boutiques. The bi-level store is airy and modern and the friendly and knowledgeable sales staff will explain the products and advise you on a regimen. In addition, the store offers nutritional counseling, and in-house nutritionist, Leslie, will customize a program for you for healthy aging or the famous Perricone 3-Day diet. (ya’ gotta like salmon!) Additionally, Leslie will go grocery shopping with you and make sure you buy the right stuff. He tells me that after one shopping trip with him people never look at grocery shelves the same way. (put that white bread back!) He’ll even come to your house and give your pantry a makeover!

The star of the store is esthetician Estela, a woman bubbling with enthusiasm for life. With over twenty year’s experience, Estela stays on the cutting edge of facial technology and has a number of advanced certifications in Micro-Current procedures. She has studied various techniques around the world, including in France and Thailand and has developed her own technique that not only gives results, but makes you fall in love with her once she touches you. She jokingly says that she gets lots of marriage proposals from both male and female clients, and she has quite a devoted fan list.

My facial with Estela was like no facial I’ve ever had before and seemed like a scene from the latest sci-fi film….but I don’t mean that in a scary way. The exfoliation consisted of going over my face gently with a small metal spatula like instrument that was connected to a nearby machine as opposed to the usual gritty substance routine or acid peel. With that done, I had the Electro-Stim Lifting Facial that consisted of Estela spending an hour going over my whole face with two electro-charged double pronged gizmos that are designed to stimulate facial muscles and make them firmer. For maximum and longer lasting results, sign up for a set of six facials. After just one, my skin looked rejuvenated and wonderful. If you can’t spend for the series which is quite pricey, get one treatment the day or two before a big event when you really want to look your best. Unlike other facials, you won’t walk out red.
After the state of the art treatment, Estela massaged my face, neck, hands and back and now I understand why she gets so many proposals!
