Skin Care

By Kim Taylor

Taking proper care of your skin is essential for women of all ages and should begin as early in life as possible. Benefits of a regular skin care routine include fresh, vibrant skin that holds up better to environmental pollutants (we’re looking at you, urban dwellers) and skin that holds up to the usual ravages of time. Here’s the routine, ladies:

Cleanse: Step 1 – wake up and clean your beautiful face! It’s the perfect way to start and end the day. Kora Organics Cream Cleanser by Miranda Kerr is rife with skin-healthy ingredients tailored to your skin type, including rose, lavender, noni, aloe, and citrus. Cleanse with tepid water and rinse thoroughly with cool water (not cold). Pat lightly with a towel and air-dry your skin. Find it at

Tone: Step 2 – use a toner to minimize pores and kill the bacteria that contributes to breakouts with a toner’s antiseptic and astringent properties. The Ayelet Clarifying Botanical Face Toner with Tea Tree & Lemon is amazing, and so is the organic Melvita Eau Extrordinaire Rose Water with marsh clover; visit both and for skin-saving toners.

Exfoliate: Step 3 – slough away dead skin cells twice a week with an exfoliating cleanse that will refresh skin on a deeper level and spur cell renewal. Skin is left feeling smooth and radiant after regular exfoliation. Kora Organics Exfoliating Cream is suitable for all skin types, 98% natural and super effective;

Spritz: Step 4 – spritz or mist your skin periodically throughout the day for a skin-promoting boost. Kora Balancing Rose Mist (certified organic, with noni, hibiscus, and aloe) balances and enriches skin tone and supports the skin’s collagen production;

Moisturize: Step 5 – moisturizing is an absolute must for protecting skin from the elements and preserving its pliability. Ling New York Skincare’s Apple Stem Cellular Energy is an anti-aging / youth boosting solution that harnesses Swiss apple stem cells to smooth over fine lines and wrinkles and revitalize skin. This fantastic elixir also contains soapberry and ginseng and is superb for aging skin that needs an ultra powerful boost. Find it and more at

Moisturizing for Sensitive Skin: If you want a rich, creamy moisturizer but have sensitive skin then reach for Elemental Herbology’s Calendula & Rose Damask Sensitive Skin Facial Moisturizer. It’s super thick and remarkably soothing — and leaves skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bum. The double whammy of replenishing rose and healing calendula works wonders on dry, sensitive skin and smells amazing too. Great for all seasons, this effective balm can be found at

Moisturizing for Incredibly Dry or Mature Skin: Step 6 – if you have mature or particularly dry skin you may want to add a richly hydrating and smoothing oil such as Lumene Complete Rewind from Finland to your routine (it’s also great for dry skin patches anywhere on your body). Lumene Complete Rewind helps reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone, scars and wrinkles. Apply it to skin before your day or night cream for an extra moisturizing boost and order it at

Once you’re in the zone of a regular skincare routine, your skin will respond favorably and you’ll be investing in extraordinary skin for many years to come.
