When a work colleague informed me that Carole Burns was responsible for her creamy, clear complexion, I had to check out her skin treatments. Never having experienced a “treatment” that involved lasers or anything electrical, I was a little nervous to say the least. But my fears were quashed when Carole assured me it was safe and “painless” and showed me “after” pictures of clients’ skin. She examined my pores and noticed a little sun damage as well as a few broken capillaries and weak spots from a bout of rosacea. She suggested a very simple, fast treatment that would take less than twenty minutes.
As a licensed and paramedical aesthetician, Carole’s specialized training and experience can treat acne, acne scarring, aging skin, wrinkled skin, smoker’s skin, and sun-damaged skin using the latest corrective skin care technology through photo facial Intense Pulse Light (IPL), peel techniques and skin care products. Carole also performs other effective treatments including laser hair removal, deep pore cleansing, chemicals peels, and hydrating facials.
I have to admit I was not particularly relaxed during the IPL procedure. Armed with goggles like the ones you use for a sun bed, a freezing cold gel was applied to my face. But it was more the feeling of being “zapped,” the light you see of the electricity and the eerie sensation that you feel that was unsettling. As Carole will remind you, this is not your comfy Zen spa where massaging hands tease out frown lines from your forehead. This isn’t a facial at all. It’s a laser treatment and it’s fast, you’re in and out, but the rewards are more immediate too.
Maybe it was my dread of “lasers” that heightened my apprehension. After ten minutes, the “zapping” came to an end and was followed up by a revitalizing oatmeal scrub facial and a hydrating moisturizer. When I eagerly inspected my pores in the mirror I was rather surprised. My skin looked fresher, more consistent, with very little irritation. All I noticed was that my freckles looked a little browner. As if someone had colored them in with a brown eye liner.
My post-procedure instructions were easy: no working out, saunas or steam rooms for at least 3 days. She also gave me a few cosmeceutical samples to try out. After five days maybe a week, the darkened freckles literally fell off, probably washed away when I cleaned my skin. And not that I ever yearned for that “Kidman-nequin look”, but I now definitely had a more porcelain, clearer complexion. Spider veins, broken capillaries, and sunspots completely vanished. Even now, almost 7 months later, my skin still looks refreshed and rejuvenated. Best of all, people at work still comment that I “glow”!
From my experience Carole Burns offers something new to clients. Combining her 14+ years in the esthetics field with medical science, she delivers a more advanced skincare treatment that simply targets problem areas and basically makes them disappear. If you have sun damage, dehydrated skin, rosacea or many other skin conditions, you can erase them and see your skin emerge that’s fresher, healthier and so younger looking. You’ll be able to restore the complexion you had before the damage – or an even better one than before.
Board certified in New York and a member of the Society of Plastic Surgery Care Specialists, Carole has worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists in the New York City for many years. In 1996, when she noticed a lack of products, education and treatments that would give real results to aging, damaged skin, she decided to create a skin care facility that would finally make a visible difference in complexion clarity. And with write ups in Nylon, New York Blade and the famed Manhattan File, Carole been praised by stars and celebs including Robin Givens, Broadway star Sara Jones and the many grateful models who needed “miracles” before their big shoots.
If you’d like to improve your complexion this season, and get the skin you once had, give SLR a try. Wouldn’t it be nice to start the year with a better complexion than the year before?
