Whoever said oil and water don’t mix obviously never tried Huile Sensorielle Aux 3 Fleurs from Lierac. This heavenly smelling oil turns a basin of water into a milky bath that coats your skin with a lovely non-greasy moisturizing veil. When I don’t take a bath, I pump some of the oil on my skin at the end of my shower and watch it turn milky as the water hits it. The warm water helps it seep in and hydrate. Once I towel off, I add a few more pumps of the oil to my arms and legs for extra help combating dryness.
That’s only the beginning of uses for this botanical oil made from gardenia, jasmine and camellia flowers.
These white flowers not only smell divine, but also contain antioxidants, and have soothing properties for the skin and hair. I’ve been adding a small amount to the bottom two inches of my hair before blow-drying to protect from split ends and frizz. Along with the flowers, the Huile Sensorielle contains four skin loving botanical oils – argan, grapeseed, sweet almond, and hazelnut. This coats your skin with vitamins A, E and B vitamins, along with other nourishing properties that smooth and soften. What it doesn’t contain are any parabens or phenoxyethanol.
Whether you use it straight from the beautiful bottle or added to your bath, this lovely oil will keep you smelling sweet and your skin and hair soft!

Shiseido is one of those brands that just at the mere mention of its name there’s a smile, and a feeling of being in the inner circle of the skincare sisterhood. As jaded as I am about skin care brands, because I try them all, you can still count me in as one of those women. New for this spring, is the Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist 24 that’s been formulating in the research labs for the past ten years and is on the shelves this spring. Based on their research that shows that UV rays cause dermal damage by generating temporary wrinkle-inducing blood vessels, they’ve identified Heparanase as a wrinkle triggering enzyme. UV rays activate this enzyme which causes the membrane between the dermis and epidermis to break down, which then leads to the process where those nasty wrinkle-inducing blood vessels are formed.
Four new products from Shiseido use ingredients that work to suppress the action of Heparanase. The ingredients, mukurossi extract, chlorella extract (freshwater algae) and gambir plant extract. In addition, there is hyaluronic acid for moisturization and amino acids to promote the generation of collagen. I’ve been using the new products for the past two months and love them. Try the Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam, Balancing Softener, Day Emulsion SPF 15, and either Night Emulsion or Night Cream.

As we age, cell turnover rate slows down which gives our skin a rougher texture, and creates more lines and wrinkles and a loss of elasticity. Nothing can stop the aging process, but we all know that regular use of good skin care products can help slow down its appearance. Cell turnover is a vital factor in keeping our skin looking young. New from Kiehl’s Since 1851 is Rosa Arctica Youth Generating Cream which is formulated to increase cell vitality, in other words, give cells a wakeup call. Using an extract derived from the Resurrection Flower, a flower that thrives in the mountains of Bulgaria and can survive long periods of dryness and harsh weather, yet still retain water. Kiehl’s scientists have added this extract to Rosa Arctica Cream and tests show that after four weeks of use skin retains moisture, cell turnover rate is increased, the skin’s own natural restoration process stimulates both collagen and elastin production and aids in defending oxidation from free radicals. Along with its namesake key ingredient, the cream contains vitamin E, lipids such as cocoa and shea butters, and glycerin. During this harsh winter I used the cream day and night on my dry skin but with warmer weather just ’round the corner, I’ll be using it at night only. This cream has made my skin feel and look terrific, and it’s got a lovely scent too!
