Skin Care

By Erin Brady

Spring and summer are almost upon us, which for New Yorkers means trading in the parkas and sweaters for dresses and sandals. With lighter clothes should come a switch in your skincare routine. Lighter lotions, serums and gels trade places with heavier creams and oils. As you change up your skincare products, why not also step-up your routine to ensure your skin is super clean, clear and even? Put away the foundation and concealer and focus on what’s underneath, because your skin could be so much cleaner, smoother and softer than you realize. Thanks to ONE amazing little gadget, you really can have it all.

The Clarisonic Mia 2, sister to the Mia and in the same family as the original Clarisonic, is the ultimate game changer for all skin types! The Mia 2 is enhanced with two speeds (low and normal), a one-minute pulsing timer and a cute little case for travel. This is ideal for anyone who has limited shower space, travels frequently, or even those like myself who tend to shower more at the gym than at home, the Mia 2 is light and compact. Using Sonic Technology, the Mia’s patented micro-massage motion works to gently remove the impurities that a traditional cleansing method would leave behind; they claim it works 6 times better than your hands! Who can argue with that!? But seriously, just think how many times you’ve washed your face and still felt a bit sticky or dirty? Or maybe you feel too clean and your skin feels stripped? Well both are problems you’ll no longer have to worry about. One thing I love is how the Mia 2 really prepares skin for any lotions, serums or treatments you put on after. The Mia 2 is quick to eradicate any pesky dry patches, uneven skin and enlarged pores, which is no easy feat for traditional cleansing.

Similar to the original Mia, the Mia 2’s charger magnetically attaches to the handle and allows for 24 minutes of use per charge, plenty of time for long trips or if you tend to keep the device in the shower. Speaking of the shower, the Mia 2 is completely waterproof, and the brush heads are interchangeable with other Clarisonic models. There are brush heads for sensitive skin, delicate skin, a deep pore brush and the newest addition is an acne brush head. Clarisonic also has cleansers that are available for purchase to suit a variety of skin types. There’s a refining skin polish, gentle hydro cleanser, refreshing gel cleanser and acne clarifying gel. The cleansers will maintain skin health, are PH-balanced and paraben-free. You can, however, use regular cleansers with the Clarisonic too; I recommend a gentle, non-creamy cleanser. I’ve been using the Refreshing Gel cleanser and find it to be the perfect companion. The feeling of deep cleansing your skin every night, having the products you already use become more effective, less fine lines, smaller pores and even skin tone are just a few of the reasons I’m keeping the Mia 2 in my beauty cabinet for life.
