Skin Care

Restore and ProtectSeeking a safe haven for your skin this holiday season? Then check out Skin Amnesty’s Restore/Protect Serum. This anti-aging elixir provides a high-octane dose of Vitamin C that is pumped through a patent-pending, dual-chamber-designed bottle. The purpose of this chamber is to ensure that the Vitamin C is sealed in so well that doesn’t lose its strength of antioxidant power or its unique ability to promote collagen synthesis (that’s what works to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles). Restore/Protect Serum works well on revitalizing the skin’s surface (and I found even assists in reducing some age spots), but a word to the wise, definitely apply this serum with ease. Because as we all know, too much power can corrupt anyone and, sadly enough, the same can be said for an over-applied product. Your skin may break out big time if you over do it in application.

Let Your Skin Breathe Pure Oxygen (by CS)
Addicted to oxygen facials and tired of paying top dollar for them at spas? Now you can get your own home oxygen facial system this holiday season. When I met the founder of Earth Oxygen, Dominic Simler, I was sure that I had the oxygen facial phenomenon all figured out. How different could this be from the many oxygen facials I have had? And why would I really want to buy this machine?

Earth Oxygen is a machine that emits pure (95% pure) oxygen and it draws from the surrounding air. All you have to do is to plug it in, use your favorite skincare product as a transmitter (you can use a non-alcoholic lotion, mist or any fluid you want your skin to absorb) and apply the vapor stream gently on your face. The pure oxygen arrives in the form of a vapor and goes directly into your skin wherever you put the “facial gun.” The best part is that there is absolutely zero maintenance or replacement parts that the machine needs. For a price tag of $2,000, you get 10,000 hours of usage. And when you do the math (think about the price of an hour’s worth of oxygen facials), this is beyond believable.

But the proof is in the pudding. I arrived a skeptic, and left a believer. My skin was transformed in minutes, wrinkles seem to disappear like a mirage, and the texture became as soft as a baby’s cheek. This can be used very effectively on the fragile, thin undereye area with dramatic results. Pure oxygen is what your skin craves (as much as moisture) and the process of aging is considerably stymied by giving your skin what it needs. This portable machine can be used for vapor oxygen treatments all over your body: on your hands, legs, knees…anywhere your body needs it! The machine was just introduced to U.S. consumers, so make sure you put this at the top of Santa’s wish list!

Sweep Away Those Dead Winter Skin Cells
The daytime drama “All My Children” has a definite sense of agelessness in my mind because soap stars always seem so well-preserved (especially this series’ long-time leading lady Susan Lucci). So trying out her skin care product Youthful Essence™, developed in partnership with Beverly Hills salon owners Dean and Amby Rhoades, was definitely something I found intriguing. Tagged as “a revolutionary at-home fountain of youth,” this at-home personal microdermabrasion system unites an innovative resurfacing tool with a vitamin-enriched hydrating cream that’s specifically formulated with super-fine crystals to renew and rejuvenate the skin. It was designed to massage away dead cells, diminish fine lines, reduce pore size and even out tone. You can use it on the face as well as the body. (I found the body use a bit more enjoyable.) One caveat: You must be very careful when using this or any at-home microdermabrasion product. It’s hard to determine at first how much pressure to apply and too much can turn out to be a very irritating experience.
