Skin Care

By Andrea Toochin

Every now and then, my research leads me to an incredible small skin care company. BeeCrowBee is one of them. If you’re a loyal reader, you know we reviewed their soap and scrubs last year. I can still remember the wonderful texture and the amazing aroma of their pumpkin soap. This month, we revisited the site and found a wonderful new product, Chai Green Tea Shea Butter Body Scrub.

The minute you open the jar, you’ll smell the sweet scent of chai, cinnamon, cardamom and a touch of green tea that balances the sweet notes. Small fine granules mix with shea butter, almond oil and apricot oil to form a soft solid pile. The scrub gently exfoliates and moisturizes without leaving a residue or sheen. But the alluring feature is being able to read and comprehend each of the seven main ingredients, all of which are recognizable and pronounceable.

No matter where you travel this summer, you’ll leave with mosquito bites. Thick, colored solutions are outdated, but none of the modern anti-itch lotions seems to quell the desire to scratch. Luckily, I discovered Wally’s Itch-Away Oil, a natural product that relieves itching caused by insect bites, poison ivy, sunburns, and more. The proprietary blend includes sweet almond oil, vitamin E oil, aloe vera, tea tree oil, and chickweed and calendula extracts. Not only does this quickly soothe rashes and bites it moisturizes the area. The consistency is surprisingly light and the scent is barely noticeable. The ultimate bonus is the product’s versatility; the oil can be used for itchy ears on humans, dogs, and cats!

It’s summer time. Sneakers and boots are buried in the back of our closets, and despite weekly nail appointments, nothing competes with rough, dirty New York City streets. This is why I’m constantly looking for fun products to add to the at-home pedicure routine. SheaTerra Organics Cocoa Berry Coconut all natural foot scrub contains coconut, cocoa butter and crushed berries that yield grains that are perfect for daily foot exfoliation. After rubbing it in, the scrub produces a slight lather that helps to cleanse whiles revealing soft new skin. The sugar base combines with the cocoa butter, raspberry pulp, and coconut cream oil to make a potent scent that parallels that of sweet baked goods. It’s a sweet life when you get to wash your feet with sugar and blackberry seeds
