Think about it. It’s Friday at 5 p.m. and you’ve had the longest week ever. Ever. You’re exhausted and just ready to let go of the week. What should you do? You should treat yourself and unwind at the spa, that’s what! I’ve rounded up some of the most relaxing treatments in the city that will help you de-stress and, in some cases, look gorgeous. Read on for some of my favorite spa treatments in the city.
The SoHo Hammam Experience at the Trump Soho: The Turkish Hammam was one of the most exotic and exhilarating things I’ve ever experienced. It was truly an experience of the senses. To quickly sum it up, it’s the modern day version of a Roman or Turkish bath where you are bathed, scrubbed and enveloped in bubbles from head to toe with variants of warm, hot and cool water. My skin felt like a newborn baby’s afterwards. Recommendation: DO IT because it’s unlike anything else. You can opt to just have the Hammam, or you can add on a Deep tissue or Aroma Infused Massage for the ultimate luxury spa day or night package. The Trump Soho is located at 246 Spring Street, New York, NY, 10013.
The Bitch Massage at Haven Spa: I don’t know about you, but once a month, like clockwork, I turn into a mega b*tch – I can’t help it! The Bitch Massage is soothing and relaxing for both the body and mind, and works to relieve anxiety, stress, insomnia, irritability, and premenstrual symptoms by using specific massage strokes, pressure points, stretches, and oil aromas. The massage soothes aches and pains by increasing blood circulation and lymph flow, decreasing fluid retention in muscles, tissues and joints, and eliminating toxins to calm the nervous system, thereby allowing stillness and comfort in the body. So good! Haven is located at 250 Mercer Street, New York, NY 10012.
The Guerlain Spa Milk Haute Honey & Rooftop Herbs Manicure/Pedicure: Did you know the Waldorf Astoria has a rooftop beehive garden where they harness fresh honey? Well, they do and it’s delicious. The honey is also incorporated into a relaxing mani/pedi experience. Rosemary from the hotel’s rooftop garden is also used and infused into a lemon sugar scrub to exfoliate the skin. The home-grown ingredients provide natural benefits, making it both a luxurious and Earth-friendly experience for hands and feet. The Manicure is 50 minutes and the Pedicure is 60 minutes. The Guerlain Spa is located at the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria, 100 East 50th Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
The Signature Multimasking Facial at SKYNgenuity: Custom like woah! The Multimasking Facial is all about customizing a facial treatment for your skin since not everywhere on our face is the same. For example, your T-zone may be oilier than your chin and your cheeks may be acne prone. Whatever the case may be, your skin is cleansed then assessed based on questions about your skin type and skincare routine. I had a Q+A session with Dr. Gillian Palette, a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cosmetic Dermatology and Esthetics, and Co-Founder of SKYNgenuity. She is lovely, knowledgeable and gave me all sorts of useful advice for my skin. Next, different masks were applied to each area of my face. That’s me in the photo above enjoying my facial. I left looking refreshed, glowy and ready to take on the world! SKYNgenuity is located at 112 East 23rd Street, Suite 400, New York, NY 10010.
Phyto Essence Aromatherapy Massage at Paul Lebrecque: If you like to unwind with an intense workout, make sure to finish off with a relaxing massage at Paul Lebrecque Spa, located inside the Chelsea Sports Center. Improve the flow of energy while detoxifying your body during this therapeutic massage. Choose from six different 100% golden jojoba oil extract formulas to help relieve stress, ease anxiety, or eliminate toxins. The Paul Lebrecque Salon & Spa is located at Pier 60, Chelsea Sports Center, New York, NY 10011.
The Oxygen Facial at Cecilia Wong: A total luxurious escape for your face. The Oxygen Facial is the perfect solution for rebooting or jump-starting skin from stress and I was lucky enough to have this facial done by the skincare guru herself, Cecilia Wong (who is completely lovely, by the way!). The facial includes diamond tip microdermabrasion, cleansing, exfoliation, enzyme peel, facial massage including lymphatic drainage, extractions, treatment mask and Hyperbaric Oxygen Spray infused with Cecilia Wong Skincare’s Black Currant Serum. I usually don’t refer to myself as “radiant,” but I left Cecilia’s looking RADIANT. The Cecilia Wong spa is located at 224 5th Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10001.
The Essential Facial at Eve Salon: Tucked in a cozy spot in the West Village, Eve Salon is the perfect place to let go and relax after a stressful week. The Essential Facial provides extra hydration and nourishment for when your face really needs it. So what’s included? A deep cleaning, gentle resurfacing, and a uniquely individualized maintenance treatment. This facial is completely customized to treat and correct all of your concerns. Eve Salon is located at 55 West 8th Street, New York, NY 10011.
