Don’t be fooled. Bulky Sweaters and long pants might do the trick this winter up here in New York City, but what if you escape the cold with a trip to the Caribbean? What if you want to prance around in front of your boyfriend in sexy lingerie for Valentine’s Day? In other words, cellulite is something we women of Manhattan must consider all year round. We religiously and rigorously rub firming creams into our thighs in hopes of diminishing those unsightly dimples…but to no avail. Thankfully, in our own backyard (and by that, I mean, 501 Madison Avenue), is the Georgette Klinger Spa, exclusively featuring the famous Alushka Cellulite Treatment.
Famous actresses, top models, old and young women alike can experience this relaxing, yet result-producing service and reap the benefits. You can treat yourself to a one-time quick slimming fix or commit to a 10 session/5-week regiment which is sure to meet your standards for complete satisfaction. Having seen the before/after pictures for myself, not to mention a few charts detailing body part measurements and weight loss, I can assure you this treatment is for real. The Alushka Spa, known for years as being a body-care oasis for women-in-the-know, just joined forces with the renowned Georgette Klinger Spa in July. Together, they provide a one-stop shop for all of your skincare and body-enhancing needs.
Unlike plastic surgery and liposuction, the Alushka cellulite treatment is a non-invasive, non-scarring treatment, which will give you the confidence you need to strut your stuff on all the beaches of the Caribbean. What to expect…Natasha, a lovely lady from Russia, had me strip down. She rubbed a toning lotion on my thighs and stomach and wrapped the entire section in Saran Wrap. Once I was lying on the bed, I was covered with rubber pads and blankets that were hooked up to a heating machine. As I felt the heat on my body get more intense as the hour went on, Natasha explained the way of life that Alushka’s clients abide by.
Basically, at some point in your 5-week treatment, you meet with Alushka personally. She discusses your current dietary habits and prescribes, if you will, a nutritional regiment that follows the principal of “food combining.” Alushka does not use the term “diet.” Each client receives an individualized program. For instance, if you retain a lot of water or have a significant amount of weight to lose, the heating treatment is best. The heat helps break down and dislodge fat cells so they can be circulated (and eventually burned off or excreted) properly. This causes the skin to look smoother. If you were pretty trim to begin with and ready for the toning and firming treatments, a different machine (that resembles suction cups) to reduce cellulite while toning the muscles would be used earlier in the 5-week program.
Just as I was all warm and toasty and about to fall asleep, Natasha came back into the room, unwrapped me and escorted me over to another room for the massage portion of the treatment. I put on a pair of protective disposable pants and slid into a big blue jumpsuit. Because the cellulite treatment is really beneficial with regard to increased circulation and lymph drainage, I was not surprised when the jumpsuit filled with air. As the air moved around the suit, tenderly squishing me from neck to feet, I imagined I looked like a cross between Violet in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man. I was lulled to a deep sleep and woken up an hour later feeling baby soft, yet fit and trim…and not at all bloated.
Although the 10 one-hour/ twice-weekly treatments (or 5 2-hour/once weekly treatments) are relatively reasonably priced, I imagine a sensible low-sodium diet and exercise would do similar wonders for your body image. However, if you’ve just had a baby, you’re over 60, you’re just not able to exercise for some reason, or if you’re in good shape but just can’t seem to zap those last few dimples, then Alushka can definitely help.
