This West Village spa gives off a major neighborhood vibe – not hard to believe considering Eve Spa has been around for over 25 years and has been offering the best of skin and nail care before the days of Botox and bird poop facials. The treatments draw in a local clientele (celebs included), who you’ll often find making chit chat during a mani/pedi while sipping hot tea in the lounge area. The longtime staff at Eve is not only incredibly friendly, but phenomenal at their work. During my manicure, a regular boasted about the fabulous Brazilians and wrote down the particular staff member’s name for me. Being that I’d never file a Brazilian wax under the ‘fabulous’ category, I assured her that I’d give it a whirl on my next go around.
This time I opted for the 80 Minutes in Eden Facial and the Essential Manicure and Pedicure. And though 80 Minutes was enough to brighten my eyes (a treatment that was included in the facial) and leave my skin clear and glowing, I could have stayed in another 80 minutes…and then another. The comfy bed, soothing music and a massage that trumps most hour-longs I’ve had was just.not.enough.
On the flip side, my manicure and pedicure was in a fun, more of a chat-with-your-neighbors type of atmosphere that you just don’t get to experience that often in this city. You could also easily relax quietly with a magazine while your nails are prettied up – in any requisite Essie or Opi polish of your choice.
When spas (not to mention restaurants, coffee shops and just about any business) go in and out before your eyes in NYC, it’s comforting to know that Eve has been here for over a quarter of a century. It’s even more comforting to go in and get yourself pampered…I promise!
