Spa

By Marni James

Let’s face it; one thing that’s really hard to give up in the summertime is manicures and pedicures. Beach vacations leave nails and toes looking atrocious, so every now and then some pampering is absolutely necessary. If you are thinking the same thing, then you’ll be happy to know that the beloved West Village Spa, Eve, just relocated to 8th street and 6th Avenue to offer clients more of their budget-friendly, top quality treatments, in a larger setting. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing and is perfect for those lazy weekend afternoons when you actually want some downtime.

Upon walking into Eve, you’ll notice some unique products for sale (such as PLUM, the house line of lotions), soothing music and inviting jewel tone colors and décor that get you in the mood for a rejuvenating experience. The 1400 square foot spa offers five waxing rooms, two facial rooms, four manicure stations and four pedicure stations.

The other wallet-friendly indulgent treatments offered include seven types of facials: outer peace, escape and eye bright are some of the more unique names, each customized to replenish and treat various skin types. For hair removal, they offer honey and gourmet wax, threading and even electrolysis. The manicures and pedicures, which I was able to experience, are tucked away in their own little room in the front of the spa.

My nail technician, Gabby, prepared the pedicure area as I picked out my colors, a deep purple Zoya color called Celine for my toes, and Love Dove from Essie, a light pink color for my fingers from Essie’s new summer collection. Gabby was so friendly and such a perfectionist, she scrubbed my feet, lotioned them up with the PLUM lotion and sprayed a light oil that smelled like the ocean on my feet. My feet never looked better. For my nails, the best part was definitely the hand massage that lasted longer than usual and left my hands feeling like all the tension had been worked out of my fingers. At the end of my experience, I sat on one of the comfy, pillow-laden benches and read some magazines as my nails dried – such a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

Eve really offers the best in skin and nail care and only uses products of the highest integrity. But perhaps Eve’s most unique aspect is the human element, as Eve is staffed with people who want to guide and pamper their clients and see that they receive the best treatment possible, which I definitely did. As an added bonus, this summer they are offering Martini Mondays where you can come in and get a refreshing Watermelon Martini to go along with their new Watermelon Pedicure. Sounds tasty to me!
