Spa

By Susan Romero

Kiehl’s Spa 1851 is a hidden jewel on Lexington Avenue. Entering the spa is like taking a trip back in time, with aged wooden floors, exposed brick walls and tiles reminiscent of apothecary stores and barbershops way back when. The spa is upstairs from the store and maintains the vintage décor and atmosphere.

On this visit to Kiehl’s I decided to try a new facial called the Super Multi-Corrective Anti-Aging Facial. This facial includes an exfoliating peel or microdermabrasion to smooth the skin. In addition, micro current stimulation and LED technology is used to promote circulation and help lift the skin on the face and neck. Kiehl’s products are applied during the facial and the best part is that you can maintain your professional glow at home. Before my facial, my esthetician, Melissa, explained that Kiehl’s does not use steam prior to extractions for hygienic reasons. The steam machine can harbor bacteria, so instead they use a mask to open the pores and perform extractions. The mask worked fine and I did not notice any difficulty in performing the extractions without steam.

Melissa applied a variety of Kiehl’s products during the facial, including the Ultra Facial Cleanser and Ultra Facial Toner, Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Super Multi-Corrective Cream, Rose Arctica Eye Balm and Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate. The micro current technology, along with Kiehl’s potent, naturally derived products, really lifted and tightened my skin. Melissa’s expert facial massage also helped revive my skin. Using the Multi-Corrective Cream daily and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate each night following my facial has really improved my skin tone and texture.

The new Multi-Corrective Cream contains three ingredients that have never been combined together: Jasmonic Acid, Beech Tree Extract and Fragmented Hyaluronic Acid. Jasmonic Acid helps renew skin cells and improve the elasticity of skin. Beech Tree Extract is a sugar protein hybrid found in beech trees and helps skin become firmer and plumper. The Fragmented Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient known to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

If you want to look great for a holiday event and beyond this December, a facial at Kiehl’s Spa 1851 will jump start your skin and keep it glowing.
