If you’re looking for a place in the LA area to relax and be pampered around the Santa Monica area, the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel spa is the place you want to be.

I have to be honest, the pool scene at this hotel is not my favorite. In fact, I would recommend that, unless you’re looking for a scene–or to ‘be seen’–you book your room elsewhere. The space is crowded and lacks the class of other local hotel pools such as the Fairmont Miramar (just down the road) or the Ritz Carlton (Marina del Rey). The pool atmosphere won’t appeal to those looking to escape the stress of the high-life. However what the pool lacks in class, the spa makes up for with top-notch service.

The spa treatment rooms are equipped with state of the art tables, equipment and skin care products. But the real stars of this show are the staff. Knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and attuned to the clients needs, I found they offered more personal service than any spa I have visited in months. I truly feel there is a long term effect when you have a massage from someone who understands your body and can identify your particular needs. It’s an added bonus when they can advise you on exercises and stretches that will help you correct certain issues.

The facial was also first rate. The spa uses Pevonia products (check out Andrea’s article from the November 05 issue – Restoring your Faith in Facials) and the facialist is trained to address not only current skin issues, but to advise on possible future issues. We all know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…and with all that caviar in the Pevonia line, it’s probably a lot less expensive, too!

The spa shop sells the Pevonia line, as well as various other body products, workout gear, robes, slippers, candles and more.

A trip to the Loews Santa Monica spa can revive you in a matter hours. Just call and book your appointment. You can even bring your bathing suit…they have a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. You won’t miss that
scene outside one bit!
