Spa

By Stephanie Ila Silver-Silberstein

Remember not so long ago when we, New Yorkers, practically welcomed the snow? We actually looked forward to the romantic ambiance set forth by snowflakes resting on our noses as we frolicked on the Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center and admired the twinkling lights as we window-shopped down 5th Avenue? Man, were we stupid. I think we’ve all but had it with this long and drawn out winter and are looking forward to the springtime like it’s Fashion Week in Bryant Park. But before Spring officially arrives, we need to do a little preparation. Along with those winter pounds, we need to shed our dry and crackly winter skin; and here are the spa products to help you do just that.

Shobha Exfoliating Cloth

The Shobha Exfoliating Cloth is sorta like a loofah…but it’s better. This all-natural tool helps shed dead, dull skin all over the body (even the most sensitive parts) and prevents ingrown hairs – a must-have for all those summer bikini waxes. Made from 100% natural plant fibers, it is a great tool for daily body exfoliation and pre hair removal skin preparation. It can be used alone or with any body wash/soap, is machine washable and can last you through next winter. http://www.MyShobha.com

Tree Hut Sugar Body Scrubs

Open any one of these body scrubs and you’ll instantly be whisked away to a Tropical Paradise- they really do smell that good. And they work just as well. This collection of certified organic Shea Sugar Body Scrubs from Tree Hut will do wonders to exfoliate your dry winter top coat and will continue to replenish your skin as it gets tan (and dry – though it may not look it) this summer. There are several fragrances to choose from including Hawaiian Kukui, Brazilian Nut (Cocoa), Almond & Honey and Coconut Lime. http://www.treehutshea.com

Lather Spa’s Natural Wool Sea Sponge

Lather Spa is known for its luxurious spa treatments but it also carries a full line of quality spa products. To help in the gentle removal of dry skin cells while cleansing the body is the Lather natural sea wool sponge. Better than your average shower loofah, this all-natural sponge does not harbor bacteria. Harvested off the coast of Florida, the Lather sea wool sponge is very soft when wet and produces a rich, creamy lather. http://www.lather.com

Desert Essence Refining Bamboo Body Scrub

The Refining Bamboo Body Scrub from Dessert Essence is a sweet smelling blend of different sized grains of natural bamboo, olive seed and walnut. Manufactured using windmill power, this scrub smoothes rough, dry skin while refreshing and revitalizing the epidermis by promoting cell turnover. And the natural cleansing agents wash and lift away impurities, leaving the body feeling smooth, supple and hydrated. Available online at the HealthSuperstore. Visit http://www.desertessence.com for other products and information.

Sensai Sponge Chief

The Sensai Sponge Chief is a highly absorbent soft sponge cloth specially developed to remove all cleansing products and masks without the stressing the skin and leaving it silky soft. The special neoprene cloth is soft and supple when wet and offers an additional gentle exfoliation tool when used along with the Sensai double cleanse system. The Sponge Chief also uniquely dries into a hard surface, which holds no moisture, and thus no bacteria. This antibacterial sponge makes you feel as though you’re getting an at-home spa facial every time you wash your face. Sold at Bergdorf Goodman. Visit http://www.kanebo.com for Sensai’s other products.

So, ladies (and gents), the hibernation is over! With these spa products, you’ll emerge from your New York City apartment with smooth, glowing, sweet smelling and sundress-ready skin.
