Continuing with our series on beachside wedding destinations near NYC, I recently visited a mega-resort in New Jersey. REVEL houses 1,400 hotel rooms, all with ocean views. Towering over a complex larger than most aircraft hangers (20-acres), this one-stop destination includes Exhale Spa, a shopping mall, gym, lounges, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, a 5,500 seat concert hall, multiple restaurants, and of course a casino.

While many people associate Atlantic City with gaming, nightlife and bacchanalia, this resort on the north end of the boardwalk is on the cusp of raising the tiered wedding cake with a fabulous, spacious and non-traditional venue. ‘Luck be a lady…’ at this local.

There are as many concepts of the perfect wedding as there are brides-to-be. That being said, REVEL offers a personalized ceremony and reception in several unique spaces. The event could be held in the above indoor/outdoor light court, with a catered reception in the surrounding lounge area. This space is located on the lobby floor and wedding guests will be given access to a private VIP area.

The hotel’s major banquette hall hosts up to three hundred guests in a staid and traditional conference room, and can be decorated with a theme and partitioned off for smaller groups. The Red Choral Room (above) is directly above the casino floor and presents a more dramatic atmosphere and ambiance. Something different? Yes!

A collection of crimson red umbrella gaming lamps glow above the banquette tables, the décor is “sexy,” as one touring couple told me. The ambiance is visually intoxicating and speaks volumes for the couple that love excitement and the color red — the sounds of one-armed bandits, shuffling cards and cheers echo below. This area is cordoned off and equipped with a private sound system and multiple flat-screen TVs. If red is the hue of love and green is the color of money, this is the perfect space to celebrate the big day like a high roller. Kiss the bride (and the dice).

The Social is a multilevel theater with state-of-the-art lighting and sound system. This too can be used as a wedding venue for the theatrical couple.

REVEL’s outdoor area encompasses 90,000 square feet with the ocean breaking waves in the background. It doesn’t matter if your guest list is twenty-five or three hundred plus, attendees will celebrate the ceremony in this labyrinth of walkways and gardens, natural elements, enchanting fire pits and cabanas overlooking the Atlantic. The grounds are breathtaking with seasonal landscaping.

Destination weddings on average run two to three days. The bride, groom, bridal party and all guests have many choices at this location. There is high-end shopping, gaming, multiple lounges and Exhale Spa. This sprawling sanctuary offers 32 therapy rooms, purifying facials, rejuvenating massages and body-slimming services. They also have popular yoga classes.

A day of rejuvenation, relaxation and Zen could be a great gift to the bridal party. Read more at http://www.atlanticcity.exhalespa.com.

The hotel can cater the wedding with an appetizing menu, but I’m going to take it a step further. There are thirteen restaurants in Revel and Amada is one of the best. Chef Jose Garces has gained notoriety from his popular nationwide restaurants and as an iron chef on The Food Network.

Bright, airy and a stunning view of the shoreline, Amada’s dining room is beautifully appointed with an old-world appeal: rustic lanterns, aged woods and a private dining area. There is also a family-style table for the wedding party or smaller gatherings.

The cuisine is rooted in staples and delicacies from Spain and Latin America and there are many options for wedding receptions; I guarantee that there is something on the menu that will please every guest. I’ve lived in Spain for several years and have traveled through Latin America. I’ve had the pleasure of dining in the homes and dinning rooms of mothers, fathers, grandparents and restaurateurs — Amada is on the same par. ¡Que rico!

I recommend the Manchego Cheese with truffle lavender honey. The coarse bread and combination of sweet spread and sharp cheese make this platter a treat for the taste buds. The Jamón Ibérico (cured ham) served with cornichons and caperberries was one of the best I’ve ever tasted — tender, savory and salty enough to whet the appetite.

Cocas are Spanish Flatbreads: The Costillas de Ternera is made with beef short ribs, horseradish, Parmesan and bacon. The combination of flavors is robust and smoky with succulent meat complimented with fresh alfalfa and a crispy crust. Delicious. Amada is also famous for their Lobster Paella and Empanada (pictured above).

There are several dining packages and the chef’s tasting menu offers a varied selection of the cuisine as well as the option for wine pairing. I believe that all wedding party guests will indulge, enjoy and appreciate this gastronomy.

For a more casual but equally impressive dining experience, I recommend Village Whiskey. With a choice of more than six-dozen whiskeys and one of the best burgers and pub food in the city, this place is a great pit stop during the wedding weekend. Visit http://www.villagewhiskey.com.

Another exclusive option for the bride and groom who choose this venue is to coordinate their wedding celebration with live entertainment. Ovation Hall is a 5,500 seat world-class theater. Top acts such as Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, The Eagles, Stone Temple Pilots and more have performed here.

Revel is close to all major cities in the northeast, it’s convenient to get to, impressive on many levels and like hitting the jackpot for the right couple and their guests.
