Born and raised just an hour outside of New York City, it may seem odd that I have never done many of the things most people travel miles to. I’ve never seen the Statue of Liberty, been to the Top of the Rock, or many of the city’s other top tourist attractions. The truth is, they can be crowded, expensive, and once you get there the line can be enough to turn you away. Then I found Go Select, an attraction bundling program from Smart Destinations, and decided it was time to play tourist!

Go Select offered me the opportunity to bundle several attractions together in order to save by paying a single, discounted price. All the attractions are on a single pass, so no multiple tickets and no confusion. As an added bonus, with Go Select, you can skip the long ticket lines and head right in, which is a huge plus for some of the more popular sights. Offering many package deals – you can choose a preselected package or make you own – this is a vacation (or in my case, staycation) must have.

Seeing my city through my new tourist eyes, I decided I really wanted to see my city – in as many ways as I could. I started with the Hop on Hop Off Downtown Bus Tour from CitySights to see the streets and get a nice ride around town. The ease and fun of this tour, letting you choose where you want to visit, was enhanced by the tour guide’s knowledge of the city’s history. It was an intimate look at New York from street level, and from there the only place to go was up – all the way up to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. From here, you can look out over Central Park on the north side, then turn to the south for a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building. It’s an amazing view that reminds a jaded city dweller of the majesty of New York City. Finally, I departed South Street Seaport on the Zephyr Seaport Liberty Cruise to see my city from the water. All of these sights were made easy and affordable using Go Select.

My day as a tourist made me see my city through different lenses. I was reminded of my love for this busy, sometimes stressful metropolis. Sometimes the day to day hustle and bustle can make us forget where we are, but Go Select helped me remember how glorious New York City really is … and I’ve got pictures to prove it!

Available in ten US cities, Go Select can help you plan your vacation or reinvigorate your love for your home city. Either way, it’s an affordable and fun way to get out and see the best the city has to offer!
