I love my new workout routine, having started in January to make my 2012 the best yet. However, there’s nothing like a vacation or trip to really throw a wrench in your mojo and halt your momentum. With the right planning and research, this doesn’t have to be a problem. Many hotels offer fitness options, so take a look at one of these and keep your resolution on your next trip:
The newly renovated Westin Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego recently launched the WestinWORKOUT program, which offers guests access to its brand new fitness center. In case you had to travel light and couldn’t fit your favorite work out items in your bags, Westin includes a New Balance gear-lending program, from which you can borrow trainers, towels, headphones and more! Relax after your work out in a signature Heavenly Bed and indulge yourself, healthfully, with their SuperFoodsRX menu. http://www.westinggaslamp.com/
With a name like Surf & Sand Resort, you have to take your routine to the beach. This Laguna Beach resort offers weekend yoga and bootcamp classes for all fitness levels on their beautiful Pacific beach, as well as indoor classes during the week or not-so-sunny days. Also enjoy complimentary games of Bocce ball, Smash ball, Frisbee and Nerf Football on the gorgeous coast, or meet with a wellness expert for a one-on-one consultation. http://wwwsurfandsand.com/
For the real outdoorsy experience, check out this the Tanque Verde Ranch, located in the desert of Tucson, Arizona. With activities from morning til night, such as horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and many more. You won’t find a TV in your room here, so no reason to stay indoors. Swap Real Housewives watching for birdwatching and make the most of this gorgeous landscape. http://www.tanqueverderanch.com/
Arizona also boasts Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale. For the serious fitness buff, Sanctuary offers a Triathlon Prep Program. Train for your big event alongside Olympians. A special for February, the weekend of the 17th through 20th will be Gold Medal Master’s Weekend. Olympic gold medalist, swimmer Misty Hyman will be giving semi-private swimming lessons. As well, you’ll receive two 60 minute spa treatments and special gifts at the end of this program. http://www.sanctuaryaz.com/
In Sea Island, Georgia, the ocean and river-front Sea Island Resort offers The Cloister Spa and Fitness Center. Choose from any of the classes on schedule: yoga and pilates, aqua aerobics, strength conditioning, ballroom dancing, Zumba, and more. Or make use of their squash courts and gym equipment. However you make your work out here, make it your own!
Find your Zen at Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort in Costa Rica. Located in the heart of the rainforest, center yourself in their yoga studio. Or take part in their weeklong Health & Wellness program, which includes personal training, spa, and nutrition services and is personalized to meet your goals. After you exercise, unwind in one of their unique, naturally occurring thermal springs. http://www.tabacon.com/
Enjoy your workout in perfect view of the Manhattan skyline at Eventi, A Kimpton Hotel in Chelsea. You can choose to try CoreSentrik, a yoga and pilates mash up, or check out their gym, equipped with my favorite new fitness item – hula hoops! If you’d rather do your routine in privacy, complimentery yoga equipment is provided, along with a healthy menu and in-room workout program by Today Show regular Joy Bauer. Don’t forget to give your aching muscles a treat – visit the spa for a massage.
For the perfect in-room workout, look no further than the Omni Berkshire Place in New York City. Their Get Fit rooms come equipped with a treadmill, healthy snacks and drinks in the mini bar, and your own Get Fit Kit. Runners, walkers, or even run-walkers can take advantage of complimentary running maps, to find the perfect long or short distance trail. The perfect end to a day of exercise is the perfect sleep, and Omni has you covered with choice of pillow from their Pillow Bar, white noise machines and sleep kits.
