Launching our new and ongoing NYC hotel spotlight series is The Carlton, a magnificent hotel near Madison Square Park reminiscent of those in Paris or London. Its unique charm is the fusion of old world luxury with modern amenities: the intricate and subdued wallpaper, French bistro-style restaurant, intimate jazz club and separate marbled showers exude European inspiration, rendering it the perfect weekend getaway, whether you’re a New Yorker or planning to visit Manhattan.
Special theme suites at the Carlton are incredibly original and tailored to personal interests: the Speakeasy Suite features a poker table, faux library entrance (above), tommy gun prop, and hidden back room.
The Broadway Diva Suite has a vanity makeup table for pre-theatre primping and iconic Broadway diva photos. The Carlton’s Corner Pocket Suite offers private billiards and a bar for your party, large or intimate. The Carlton’s New Yorker Suite has a generous Jacuzzi, chandelier and framed New Yorker magazine covers from over the years. Empire Suites have a living room area with a dining room table for four, and marble showers that rival any in the city. Junior Suites have a separate parlor. Read more about the various suites at http://www.Carltonhotelny.com. You can see the Empire State Building from your suite window if facing east, and you’ll feel as though you can practically touch it.
The Caravan Stylist Studio is located within The Carlton – which is perfect for weddings, red carpet event styling, or simply getting a mani, pedi or makeover. Staffed by warm, friendly people with incredible stories, it’s a fantastic place to relax and be pampered.
The French restaurant Millesime and The Salon Millesime lend a thoroughly European charm to the Carlton along with exquisite oysters, cocktails, pommes frites, pepper steak, indulgent desserts and much more. If you wander out of the hotel, Madison Square Park and the Shake Shack is just a few blocks south, as well as Birch Coffee Shop and the amazing Eataly wonderland. Other nearby shops and sights: the Flatiron Building, Mac cosmetics, Yamak jewelry, Shoegasm, and an all-night deli/diner one block south (also great for breakfast with home-made omelettes if you feel like going out for it).
You can stay in and order movies from your luxurious suite at the Carlton, or step downstairs for live music and wine, food or drinks. The Carlton is lively at night, especially on the weekends, so you feel as though you’re at a grand destination – and you are.
