If you’re from New York and anyone has ever offered you the chance to sleep with the fishies, it might involve some rope, a cement block and the Hudson River. Restful, maybe, but not an appealing idea for a getaway. But in the land Down Under, Fantasea ReefSleep is quite literal about the offer – they’ll put you up underwater among the amazing marine life that calls the Great Barrier Reef home.

Accept Fantasea’s invitation and you’ll be whisked away by catamaran to your sub-sea accommodations, which lie about 40 nautical miles off the coast of the Australian mainland. A two day, one night adventure awaits and includes an overnight in a private viewing chamber, an alfresco dinner, full breakfast and sunset cocktails. A variety of activities are offered including snorkel safaris and scuba diving, and for an additional charge you can take a scenic helicopter tour or even book a massage on board.

The price is a pretty penny – $500 per person – but we’d say it would be well worth experiencing sea creature nightlife safely and comfortably. Not to mention your own nocturnal activities while submerged below the ocean’s surface. Mile-deep club anyone? Just saying…
