It’s getting hot in the city people…that means it’s high time to find either perfect place to lay low and cool down, or a haute spot to take in the rays. Add to that space the best of craft beer, killer cocktails, plus enticing apps and entrees, and you have your new home-away-from-home: Tavern 29.
Situated in the recently resurgent NoMad district, Tavern 29 resides on two floors of a 19th-century townhouse and also features a rooftop beer garden. It offers a rotating menu of more than 24 craft beers at a time, ranging from “seasonal selections to classic brews, from New York to California, and everything in between.” We sampled a beer flight and really dug Cisco Brewers’ Grey Lady – definitely our go-to summer brew.
They have a large range of scotches, wine, cocktails, and plenty of comfort food too. Some of their cocktails are (of course) specially crafted from beer, such as our pick for a seasonal pick-me-up The Pearl Street Peach, made up of RJ Rockers Peach Wheat Beer, Bushmills Whiskey, and Peach Puree. Other signature selections sound equally delicious like 40 Thieves with Avion Silver Tequila, Pür Blood Orange Liquor, and Sweet Vermouth. The menu has dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, such as 10 oz. grass-fed burgers featuring a Pat LaFrieda burger blend, Pilsner battered fish & chips, and lobster mac & cheese.
In addition to Brew Night Tuesdays (which features one of the many breweries Tavern 29 works with) and Bottomless Brunch on Sundays, the venue also has a number of upcoming events planned for the summer including a Beer Tasting Series throughout July and into August; a July 4th Official Summer Kick-off Backyard BBQ (on the rooftop); and Sunday Movie Nights (on the rooftop as well) starting in July.
