It’s almost autumn, baby! That’s means the air starts to chill, the leaves start to thrill, and we’re on the hunt for new drinks that kill (our taste buds that is, and we mean that in a good way – as in slays them). First up for your consideration is Angry Orchard Hard Cider because who says apples can’t give our mouths a seriously tasty bite we’ll fall for?
Available in three different artisanal varieties, including Crisp Apple, Apple Ginger, and Traditional Dry, Angry Orchard Hard Cider offers a bit of alcohol and plenty of refreshing taste that’s great to drink on its own or pair with variety of foods, including cheese. Crisp Apple (5.0% ABV) combines the apples’ sweetness with a little dryness for a balanced cider taste. Angry Orchard suggests you pair it with sharp blue or classic cheddar. Apple Ginger (5.0% ABV – our fave!) blends fresh Nigerian ginger and apple flavors to produce a sweet, yet mildly tart taste, a unique ginger aroma and a warm finish. Brie or aged gouda work well with this. Traditional Dry (5.5% ABV) is developed in an English draft cider style, resulting in a bittersweet, lightly spicy taste. Goat or creamy cheeses are suggested. As an added bonus, Angry Orchard Hard Cider is gluten-free, so they are perfect for any palate.
The cider makers at Angry Orchard head to Europe to source their apples and use specific varieties to create their unique flavors, including those hailing from the Alpine Foothills of Italy and bittersweet selections from Normandy, France (which cider makers describe as “angry” because of the tart and tannic characteristics they give off – hence the name Angry Orchard). Once the apples hit their peak, they are hand-selected and enter a long fermentation process that includes wood-aging for enhanced complexity and balance. Angry Orchard is available in 6-packs or on draft. For more information, visit http://www.AngryOrchard.com.
