Two new exciting picks from Eastside Distilling out of Portland, OR: Burnside Bourbon 4-Year Aged, and Oregon Oaked. At 96-proof, both bottles are sure to put some sideburns on your face.
The 4-Year bourbon starts smooth, leaving the kick for the finish. It carries a slight peaty flavor, making Burnside 4-Year taste almost closer to scotch than bourbon. The big surprise is the almost spicy kick, which I noticed immediately. Great on the rocks, in an Old Fashioned, or Whiskey Sour, Burnside 4-Year is not your average bourbon, from an above-average distillery.
Burnside Oregon Oaked brings something a little different to the table (or, the rocks glass.) With a smokier flavor and smooth finish, this bourbon would be the ideal of the two to drink neat, or on the rocks.
Eastside Distilling has created two wonderful whiskies— versatile and flavorful enough to be enjoyed by themselves or in a cocktail— in an intriguing package, sure to start a conversation at your next cocktail party or cookout.
