British makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury has (finally) crashed American shores with her eponymous makeup line. It’s everything you ever hoped and dreamed it could be and more. It’s an extensive collection, so make sure you have plenty of time and cash when you shop the line. Here’s what I am crushing on.
The Feline Flick Pen takes all of the guesswork out of the popular-but-takes-practice cat eye. The super thin tip allows you to trace your lashline from the inner corner out and then add the flick, or start with the outer flick and trace inward. Whatever your preference when creating a cat eye, you can achieve it with this pen.
Even if you don’t want to be all sorts of contour and look carved from stone like, say, La Famiglia Kardashian, you can highlight and add glow, enhancing your features with Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze + Glow palette. Proper tools and precise, intuitive placement of the product can enhance, slim or play up your features but if you don’t “get” how to contour, watch an online tutorial or play with it a different way. Honestly, you can merely use this to add a little bit of faux sunkissed-ness and/or to illuminate your favorite part of your face. No need to create angles that aren’t there, UNLESS you have skill, time to practice or a makeup artists for a BFF. Don’t go overboard or you’ll look like Tan Mom. “I want to look like Tan Mom” said no one…ever.
Lastly, Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Re-Shape and Re-Size Lip Liner in Pillow Talk is a soft, universal pink lip liner with a velvet texture. Despite its name, I didn’t use it to extend my lip line. Instead, I used it to trace my natural lip shape, then filled in my lips with the liner and topped with gloss for a more defined look. I also used it as a lipstick, too, when I wanted to go matte for a Monday.
Overall, there are many more products in the Tilbury line that I want to play with.
Editor-curated sample boxes are all over the place lately. Allure rocked one last month, and now Harper’s Bazaar has put together luxe package of samples for Glossybox, featuring the hot-but-not-too-hot Madison Ave-Hue polish from Essie, Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tar in Metallic Authentic, among other items. Getting this in the mail made my day and went right into rotation.
If you are on the hunt for a shadow quad for fall, I’ve gotta tip you off to the limited edition Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Quad in Chic Browns. With four autumn neutrals, selected by Rebecca Restrepo, the mix of mattes and shimmer mean limitless combos. The golds and browns allow for an autumnal take on sunset eyes or a softer, more refined smoky eye. Or you can create some shadows and light. I’ll let you take it from here, ladies.
I can never get enough what Make Up For Ever is pumping and pimping for my primping. This fall, the brand once again stole my black (eyelinered) heart with their Artist Liner. It comes in several shades and finishes, but I’m all about the Black Diamond; you can never have too many Black Diamonds in your life. This lasts for days.
