Gaeta, Italy — My private beach
Can you wear makeup at the beach? Is this a “Yay or nay?” I say “Yay, but in a very natural and discreet sort of way.” Natural doesn’t have to mean boring, either. But you do have to be careful and work with, instead of against, the heat. Make sure to waterproof your lashes and brows, tint and protect your face, and add some shimmer and color to your cheeks and lips.
There are the makeup products you can and should wear while at the beach
bbrowbar Waterproof Brow Kit: I love a waterproof eyebrow set. Brows are so important in your everyday makeup look. Just because you’re at the beach, your attention to brow detail needn’t be any different or any less. Brow masters bbrowbar offer top-of-the-line products. This set includes a shimmery cream highlighting stick, a brow pencil, which is perfect for filling in sparse hairs and helping them to stay put, and a waterproof gel sealer.

Stila Convertible Color Dual Lip & Cheek Palette in Sunset Serenade: This lovely and practical lip and cheek palette from Stila is crazy convenient for the beach. Dab on cheeks and lips for a subtle, sheer glow and a pop of color. Don’t worry about making mistakes with this palette — just have fun, as it’s pretty much mistake-proof.
H&M Glow To Go Highlighter: This limited edition highlighter from H&M creates a perfect shimmer and comes in a convenient twist-up stick. That translates to easy and efficient application. Apply to your lids, cheekbones, under your brow, on the Cupid’s bow, or on your collar bone. Then, blend with fingertips. You don’t even need to look in a mirror. Yes, it’s that easy.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara: Waterproof is the “must use” formula if you plan to rock mascara at the beach. Lash Sensational Mascara by Maybelline is an amazing new mascara that allows you to build layers upon layers of lashes with a curved fanning brush. The curved brush reaches even the tiniest corner lashes.
Bare Republic SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen Lotion: I personally don’t suggest wearing foundation at the beach. What I do suggest — enthusiastically so— is a tinted sunscreen product like Bare Republic’s SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen Lotion. Not only does it have a coconut vanilla scent, which is very summery, but it is an all-natural, vegan mineral sunscreen. I really like that it’s tinted, since you avoid any white streaks on your face and it has a really nice finish.
