Vahy from Melbourne, Australia, was established in 2016 and offers clean-ingredient, luxurious fragrances that meld the sophistication of classic perfumes with unique modern note arrangements, so as to deliver something truly distinctive for every preference. I tried their Midnight Ruze because the combination of rose and peppercorn intrigued me. I wanted to find a scent of my own that makes an elegant statement on my behalf at summer events, and I was elated at first sniff with this one. Midnight Ruse is a curious, almost decadent and subversive fragrance. It’s remarkably green-smelling on me, almost to the point of being grassy, which I love for summer. I know everyone elicits their own version of the notes due to their individual body chemistry, so it’s possible that others may draw out more of the peppercorn or rose. But overall, this is a feminine, sweet, balanced-rose fragrance with a delicious dash of spiced pink pepper. It’s an olfactory ode to midnight in Paris and all of the romance, mystery, and adventure that awaits as you stroll the city, enveloped in complexity and sophistication (wearing something exquisite, naturally).
