Those of us who wear red lipstick on a daily basis are a passionate group and personally, I feel absolutely naked without a bold red lip. So when I learned that one of my favorite perfume companies, Bond No. 9, created an entire menu of bold red lippies, each housed in a sculpturally gorgeous want-to-keep-forever case, I couldn’t wait to try them out.
Just as Bond No. 9 Perfumes celebrate NYC neighborhoods, the lipstick collection does so as well. All nine colors are named for some of NY’s most trendy and popular ‘hoods – Chelsea, Nolita, Noho, Soho, Fashion Ave, Park Ave, Madison, Astor, and Broadway. Company President, and Founder, Laurice Rahme wants the lipsticks to translate the spirit of New York in the same way her perfumes do. And she certainly has succeeded. The reds are as varied as you’d want – Park Ave is a crisp scarlet hue, while my favorite, Nolita, is described as a “timeless Hollywood red”. The range of reds assures that there’s one for everyone. All the lipsticks are vegan, cruelty-free, and do not contain phthalates or parabens. The formula feels beautiful on the lips; it’s creamy and stays put for a long time. And if you’re wondering if they’re perfume scented, don’t worry, they’re not.
The lipsticks, just on their own merit, are sensational, but the wow factor is in the chic, sculptural refillable gold toned holder. The hourglass shape was inspired by the iconic Bond No. 9 perfume bottles. The case fits nicely in your hand and feels substantial, and the dangling vintage NYC subway token charm is a nostalgic reminder of simpler times. (if you had a token you had a ride, with a metro card, who knows?) Thankfully, all the lipsticks are also sold in plain tubes that are easily inserted into the fancy gold case so when you’re finished with a lipstick, or just want to change color, it’s super simple. I give these new lipsticks and the beautiful case a great big red MWAH!
