How to Pack the Perfect Weekend Makeup Bag

As an experienced traveler, I believe that traveling light is a must. It’s much better to focus on your experiences, as opposed to keeping track of all of the stuff you have lugged with you. Plus, it allows for more space in your bag so you can bring back items from your trip. I tend not to wear makeup every day when I travel and in the interest of saving space, I pack compacts and palettes, which are major space savers. This handy guide will help you pack for your upcoming fall weekend trips.

Cargo Cosmetics Land Down Under Eye Palette: Inspired by the beaches of Australia, this limited edition palette features six matte and six shimmer shades. You get sunset browns and golds that flatter all skin tones. It also includes cooler, ocean-inspired shades that add pops of color.

Iluminage Skin Rejuvenating Eye Mask: This rejuvenating sleep mask works to minimize wrinkles while you sleep. It also blocks all visual stimuli, letting you quiet your mind and senses. Jet lag is usually an issue for me and this lets me improve my sleep quality and my skin at once.

Cargo Cosmetics 20th Anniversary Lip Gloss Quad: Cargo’s classic lip gloss quad is back by popular demand for the brand’s 20th anniversary celebration. You get shine sans stickiness and four shades that can be used a la carte or mixed for a custom shade. It includes a retractable brush, too. You have many lip look options without sacrificing precious space in your bag.

L’Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Lip: You can never, ever have too many lippies. This slim case offers three finishes and infinite possibilities. You can contour lips, create an ombre effect, or customize your lip color with any or all of the shades in this palette. You don’t need to pack a bunch of lip products when you have this all-in-one. Insider tip: These can substitute for blush, and no one would ever know!

Lune + Aster Sunrise Bronzer & Blush Duo: Here we have another slim case appropriate for travel. One of Lune + Aster’s favorite techniques is to layer blush on top of bronzer, giving you vacation skin glow without having to sit in the sun or go somewhere tropical.

Real Techniques Miracle Sponges: Sponges are lighter than brushes and easier to tote when on-the-go and away from home. These are the ultimate in weightless luxury and eliminate the need for more than three brushes in your travel kit.

Cosmetic Travel Bags:
Choosing the right bag in which to store makeup products when traveling is mission: critical. I have found the most gorgeous cosmetic bags from Sophia Joy and Tartan + Twine. Beautiful designs, incredible quality, and wonderful prices — what more could you need?
