After seeing more than 1,000 TikTok videos, I finally caved and had to try a NuFACE Mini+ Petite Facial Toning Device. (Honestly, it didn’t take me much time after hearing Jennifer Aniston uses it.) Let me tell you, it does not disappoint.
If you’re anything like me, you have a system before going to sleep: take a shower, brush my teeth, grab a glass of water, read, and lastly, skincare. Well, sometimes that final step seems to take hours when my eyes are barely staying open. A while back, I started incorporating a 20 minute gua sha session into that step, and about a month ago, I decided it was too long for me. Especially after a hectic day, I wanted some way to sculpt my face that didn’t take so long. That’s where NuFACE came in.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the brand, NuFACE has established themselves as the leader of at-home beauty devices with their flagship micro-current technology. Their products have received numerous awards for their instant ability to tone, firm, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. However, the whole idea of micro-current treatments can seem a bit daunting, especially if you’re a newbie to the skincare game.
Curious to try it out but a little confused by the concept? We got you! Here’s everything you should know about the NuFace Mini+ device, including what micro-current technology is exactly, and how to use it for the maximum amount of results.
What is microcurrent?
Micro-current is a low-level current that sends soft, gentle waves through the skin and down to the facial muscles. It mimics and re-energizes the body’s own natural current helping to tone, lift, and contour. The technology also stimulates the skin, creating a smooth appearance and leaving a bright, youthful glow.
Does it actually work?
After 50 years of this technology being used in the medical industry, I can assure you, it does! With the MINI+ specifically, over 90% of users saw a lifted appearance and improved cheek contour after just one use.
How does it work?
3 easy steps:
Cleanse with an oil-free cleanser.
Activate using the Clean Sweep Brush to apply a mask-like layer of one of the brand’s microcurrent activators to each section as your treat. (If you want an added boost for specific skincare needs, NuFace also carries Super Boosters, which you can apply before the activating step.)
Lift by gliding the device in 1-2-3 sequences 3 times in each section.
Does it hurt?
As long as you’re doing it the right way, no! Most users say they don’t even notice the device is on. When I first started using it, it did hurt because I didn’t apply enough of the activator. A good rule of thumb: if it hurts, the technology isn’t working. The activator conducts the micro-currents into the layers of the skin so if there’s not enough on the skin, it simply won’t work and will hurt. If there is a nice layer of the product on your skin, as there needs to be, you won’t feel a thing!
Why does it have three lights?
Each button has its purpose. The device is set up to have a 3-depth system.
The first light is the Skin-Tightening Mode, which only allows the currents to reach the first layer of the skin the epidermis). It helps to blur fine lines and wrinkles.
The second light is the Instant-Lift Mode, targeting the hypodermis (4th layer of skin). This mode is focused on toning, lifting and contouring the skin.
Last but not least, the third light is the Pro-Toning Mode, which reaches below all layers of the skin and activates the muscle. The deep toning is best for long-term transformation.
Where does this step go within my skincare routine?
The NuFace system is applied just before using eye cream, moisturizer and SPF.
How long does it take, and how often should I use it?
My favorite thing about the treatment is it only requires 5 minutes of your day! For the first 6 weeks, you should be using it 5 days a week to see desirable results. After that, you can use it 2-3 times for maintenance. Even though you’ll see results instantly, consistency is key! The more you use it, the more you’ll continue to see a difference in your skin’s definition. It’s all what you put into it.
What if I’m confused during the treatment?
No worries! Just download the NuFace Smart app and you can meet with an on-demand virtual aesthetician to help guide you through a personalized regimen. You can also access professional step-by-step tutorials tailored to your concerns.
Is the NuFace Mini+ worth it?
In my opinion, I think it is 100% worth it. Although the price does seem expensive, it’s a quick and easy way to rebuild and maintain your skin’s elasticity and radiance without several trips to an esthetician, which will cost you more anyway. Don’t be like me – invest in it now and save yourself hours at a spa… and on TikTok.
