Alcone Beauty Club

Thank god it’s the weekend! Now you can either stay in or go out and party before it gets to snowy to navigate through the slush.

Now if you missed the Alcone Beauty Club party that I told you about, you missed a good one. There were two sittings; I went to the 8 PM one and dragged Diana along with me. A group of women sat in the comfy conference room of Behrman PR and had a fabulous time. We started out as strangers, but between the wine, snacks and playing with makeup, we all ended up giggling together. The meeting/party was presided by sisters Michelle, Marette and Alexandra. They all work for Alcone. Marette is a professional make up artist who has worked on a variety of TV shows and recently did Chris Isaak’s (sigh) face for the Rockefeller Tree lighting ceremony.

The line was developed for and is used by professional makeup artists. This stuff is light on your skin, feels invisible and lasts all day long. They have this amazing lipstick sealant, Lip Chic that you apply over your lipstick. It really makes the lipstick last. I tried it, ate, drank, smoked and my lipstick was still there. This is a product that every woman should have in her make up bag, their lip glosses deliver high shine, aren’t goopy, last long and for some reason I can’t figure out, your hair is not magnetically stuck to your lips via your lip gloss. It’s unflavored too! They had one product that I didn’t buy, and yes I’m kicking myself around the block for it. It’s Alcone Derma Mini Kit – it contains 12 different colored concealers that you can blend or wear alone and it covers zits, dark circles, even tattoos! This is your secret weapon. Now, you can still buy products from Alcone by going to their website or go to their store Alcone NYC, 235 West 19th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues) 212-633-0551

Eagles of Death Metal and Walking Concert plays tonight, December 3, 2004 at CBGB’s. I mentioned Eagles of Death Metal the other day. It’s a band created by friends Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age). If you couldn’t make it out to Brooklyn to see them, catch them tonight at CBGB’s. Opening for them is another band I’ve mentioned, Walking Concrete. It’s headed up by Walter Schreifels. He’s a guy who’s been deeply involved in the alternative New York scene for many years. He’s fronted for Quicksand, Youth of Today, and Gorilla Biscuits. The band puts on a great live show, and the music will stick in your head for hours (in a good way.)
