Disco-Prog Pop Group LadyTron Makes Way to Irving Plaza 9/20

Electronic synth-pop group Ladytron will be stopping by Irving Plaza this Wednesday, September 20th as a part of their larger North American tour. Their tour coincides with their seventh studio album released earlier this year, Time’s Arrow. The album received praise since it’s release and can be expected to be played during their show along with some of their other classic hits.

Time’s Arrow has been listed in Rolling Stone’s “Top Albums of 2023” mentioned their hit track Misery Remember Me to be “…a sort of a disco-prog hybrid that never sounds too nerdy or too cool for school.” The album was also featured in Uncut magazine and got 4 stars from Mojo.

“A glittering palace of gothic Italo disco”
– Uncut

“Towering, filmic… Burnished synth-pop meets the hyperreality of travel”
– Mojo

The group also released a dreamy music video for one of their tracks, Misery Remember Me, featuring the dreamy landscapes of member Helen Marnie’s home area. The psychedelic flavored world exemplifies the song’s beautiful yet melancholic vibe.

When talking about Time Arrow’s core meaning and the featured song, Helen shared, “we must embrace the now, but always allow ourselves to dream. ‘Misery Remember Me’ encapsulates this ethos.”

Along with their new album, Ladytron also shared a new remix of their 2005 hit, “Destroy Everything You Touch”, a classic that previously broke UK’s Top 50 Singles Chart. The remix was produced by DJ and music producer Space Motion, a well respected contemporary of DJs such as Vintage Culture, Camelphat and Gorgon City, who also played at the sustainable music festival Deep Tropics earlier this year.

Comprised of members Daniel Hunt, Helen Marnie, and Mira Aroyo, Ladytron has been creating masterful, ground-breaking mixes since the 90s. They have paved the way for both the indie and mainstream electronic scene and continue to push the boundaries of music.
