Sure we’ve all heard of the Food Network, but what foodies out there might want to subscribe to immediately is another specialty channel for the truly passionate: The Cooking Channel. The channel is Scrips Network’s answer to more content for those devoted to food and cooking in every dimension. Cooking Channel has some of my favorite chefs and provides unique and fun content for any chef or wannabe chef, in my case, to find something that appeals to them.
If you haven’t heard of Cooking Channel, don’t fret, in reality they are only two years old, just a mere toddler. To celebrate the success of the channel, they did what any good foodie would do and threw a food-filled birthday party for themselves in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this past weekend. The Cooking Channel turned an area down by the waterfront into a tent of amazing and seasonal food and drinks, called the Summer Eats Pop-Up Tour. Cooking Channel is also taking this Summer Eats Tour to different cities, so be sure to check out their Facebook page to find out where the pop-up tour heads next!
At the birthday fiesta there were not only great eats and ice cold beer and wine which were perfect for the scorching temps, but two of Cooking Channel’s new chefs were roaming around to talk to guests: Eden Grinshpan (Eden Eats) and Barron Ambrosia (The Culinary Adventures of Barron Ambrosia). Eden, who dressed the part of any Williamsburg festival-goer, was very down-to-earth and named some of her favorite summer things as follows: ingredient: mint; summer dish: ribs with corn or fish tacos; cocktail: margarita, and favorite birthday treat: pie.
Barron, on the other hand, was dressed in a very chic button down and pants (and signature top-knot hairstyle), favors the following: ingredient: Fresh jackfruit and mamey; summer dish: Jamaican jerked pork with Haitian pikliz; cocktail: ca cuong martini; birthday treat: liberian palm butter with turbaghee, checked rice and fried pepper sauce.
