What better way to cap your day off, than by meeting up at The Plaza’s verdant Palm Court for cocktails and savory bites? Along with its resplendent Afternoon Tea service, the Plaza’s Palm Court features food and cocktails in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere thoroughly conducive to unwinding. This is the perfect setting for enjoying friends, loved ones, or coworkers after hours (and for celeb spottings)— and it’s a quintessentially New York experience.

Inspired by nearby Central Park, The Palm Court is lush and fragrant with palm trees, orchids, white flowers and plants. Sip a chilled, bright pink NYC Cosmopolitan under its spectacular stained-glass dome ceiling, or warm yourself with a liqueur, whiskey or port. The craft cocktails, such as Chartreusian Velvet Sling (for two), Leche Dolce, and Barbados Red Rum Swizzle meld high quality ingredients with inventive pairings to present a drink worth remembering, in a setting that renders your time as special. The cocktail Unencumbered, for example, combines Hendrick’s Gin with English cucumber juice, lime, cane sugar and moscato d’asti. You can also find a creatively inspired selection of non-alcoholic craft drinks, as well as local and global beers.

The Plateau of Evening Snacks are delectable hors’ d’oeuvres (including vegetarian options) that are well worth exploring, and include oysters, cheese plates and much more. If you would like to have dinner after work at the Palm Court too, you’ll find soups, salads, mini pastrami sandwiches, meatballs, steak, burgers, butternut-apple soup, lemon-roasted chicken and more. And of course, there are sweets and teas too, should any of your friends have a birthday on the horizon. The Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lady M Mille Crepes Cake and Honey Creameux all stand out on the exceptional dessert menu.

The best thing about the Palm Court, though — as with any place — is the people. The wait staff is especially warm and welcoming (especially Cecilia, who is a font of NYC insider info about the fashion, art and film realms). The service at the Palm Court is seamless and efficient, friendly and genuine. Celebs pop in there regularly, the most recent visitors being Leonardo DiCaprio, followed by Woody Harrelson.

This could very well end up being your favorite place in the city.
