Culinary Cares – No Kid Hungry: Share Our Strength

As a pastry chef I pride myself on the delicacies I create in my kitchen. Taking my ideas and dreams and turning them into realities. However, there is one thing that tops those feel good fuzzies for me, and that is taking my culinary skills and using them to make a difference in the world. That being said, let me tell you all about No Kid Hungry.

No Kid Hungry – Share Our Strength program began in 1984 and began the mission to end childhood hunger in America. Statistics today show that more than 16 million kids live in households that struggle to put food on their tables. Sadly, that is 1 in every 5 children that will go without a meal. No Kid Hungry has devoted its lively hood to help change those statistics.

In the time since the campaign was launched they have served up over 107 million additional meals to families in need, developed six different fundraising and awareness platforms, create educational programs to teach families about affordable healthy eating, and picked up countless volunteers and activist to keep the campaign going at all times.

This year No Kid Hungry will be a charity partner for the 2014 New York City Wine & Food Festival hosted by Food Network. 100% of net proceed will go directly to the No Kid Hungry campaign. So if you are a foodie and love some good eats, drinks and giving back then you should get your tickets now for the NYCWFF.

THE DESSERTIST has been a Chef Advocate for No Kid Hungry and will be a featured chef at the NYC Wine & Food Festival. Please join me in making a difference and ending childhood hunger.
