Why should you head to The Cutting Room? A recent fun-yet-placid evening there opened with an impassioned speech by actor Chris Noth, the club’s host and owner. He informed the audience that 99.9% of scientists concur that global warming is a real and enormous threat to our world.

Following this, Lindsey Allen, Executive Director of Rainforest Action Network, gave an informative speech describing how her organization takes on corporations and companies and negotiates policies to reduce emissions by keeping rainforests standing. They even took on Exxon! Punk rock! Powerful!

Next up was the entertainment! Poet Howard Altmann recited some beautifully crafted poems to an appreciative audience. Amy Vachal of The Voice sang in her unique and melodic way, and Suzanne Vega brought down the house with her charismatic presence and stunning voice.

The organic vegan menu tastings and signature Eco Roc cocktails did not disappoint. However, the live auction did… Despite all the proceeds benefitting RAN, most of the amazing trips and jewelry were undersold. Does no one want to go to Bali? Bad weather? Climate change!

If these causes are true to your heart, visit http://www.RAN.org and read more about The Rainforest Action Network. And support The Cutting Room, which has an incredible roster of performers on the horizon (including a Roast) at http://tickets.thecuttingroomnyc.com/calendar/.
