Gearing Up for Fashion Week 2022: Brooklyn’s Industry City

Let’s be honest. Online shopping is convenient and often economical, however, all those returns because it’s the wrong size, incorrect color, not what you expected… While many of us miss the days of getting dressed up to go to a department store (even just to window shop), there is nothing that compares to actually seeing, touching and trying on a garment or holding a new accessory. Period! Well, today’s version of America’s favorite pastime, shopping, is experiencing a renaissance in Brooklyn and it’s called Industry City.

Following is what you need to know for those long for the days of strolling along a promenade with hands full of shopping bags filled with the latest fashions, from high-end manufacturing to homemade designs…

A sprawling 6 million-square-foot multi-use complex is comprised of 16 buildings that span 35 acres. It is located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and right on the gorgeous waterfront. It is an impressive campus brimming with shops, various events and restaurants/kiosks where designers, artists, culinary professionals and today’s entrepreneurs can show off their passion and creations.

Following are just several of the past and present businesses that have made their mark on the fashion and business world via Industry City. It’s a must-visit and, as they like to boast, a magnetic hub for more than 60 fashion brands.

Ashya offers travel accessories brands and winners of the 2019 CFDA Elaine Gold LaunchPad. The firm was awarded free space at Industry City, where they then expanded their space into Industry City’s Makers Guild. You can find these fine leather bags in such stores as Bergdorf Goodman.
