Head to DUMBO this Weekend for Lysol’s “Protect Like a Mother” Exhibit

Head over to the Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO this weekend for a free, fun exhibit sponsored by Lysol. “Protect Like a Mother” is an exhibit honoring mothers – both human and those from the animal kingdom – showcasing how no one protects like a mom. While human moms keep their kids safe from germs using Lysol products, the animals have their own unique ways. Along with viewing some giant animal sculptures such a golden eagle sitting on her nest and protecting her two eggs, a large pink octopus, and an orangutan with a baby on her back, there are story boards with fun information about how many of our favorite animals protect their young.

The weather is finally great, the Brooklyn Bridge Park is a fun place for the whole family to visit, so come visit! You’ll learn some other cool facts on how moms protect their young.

Did you know…

A mother orangutan carries her newborn on her back constantly for the first six months of the baby’s life? No matter what her activity – sleeping, climbing, bathing – the baby clings on to mommy’s back and doesn’t leave for half a year.

An octopus lays 100,000 eggs and spends an entire year taking care of them until they hatch. She cleans and aerates them daily for a full year!

When to go…

The “Protect Like a Mother” exhibit is open to the public on Saturday, May 20th and Sunday May 21st at the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. It’s free and open from 9:00AM to 6:00PM.

You can get there by the F, A, C or 7th Avenue subways. For even more fun, from Manhattan, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge or take a ferry.
