New Menus/Same Stellar Views @ Monarch Rooftop Lounge

The Monarch Rooftop Lounge is conveniently located in midtown near Macy’s Department Store — a spacious indoor/outdoor venue that shows off some of the best views of the city with a vibe that draws an attractive, hungry and thirsty after-work crowd who mingle with international visitors at the Courtyard Hotel near Herald Square. We have enjoyed visiting Monarch for many seasons now. They recently announced the launching of new and seasonal menu items paired with inspired adult libations. As the sun sets over the Hudson River, the Empire State Building lights up the vista. Let the good times begin.

Here is what you need to know and several of our favorite menu selections.

Monarch’s Chef Daniel Billheimer and Mixologist, Genese DeBeaux have upped their game offering premium cocktails and tasty appetizers and small plates. The Lobster Roll on mini brioche truly satisfies with Maine lobster, celery and Old Bay seasoning — fresh, flavorful and a generous amount of lobster. Delicious!

The Mule Meets Mojito is a refreshing new twist on the traditional drink from Cuba. This mule gives a kick in the old Castro with Stoli Vodka, ginger infused brown sugar syrup, muddled limes and mint then topped with Ginger Beer. This beverage is as welcome and refreshing as a spring breeze. We recommend pairing it with the Tiger Shrimp Dumplings, steamed or fried, served with sweet Asian vinaigrette.

Red in Bed is the perfect option for those who desire a sweet and fruity cocktail. This concoction is made with Flor de Cana Silver Rum, muddled strawberries, mint and fresh lime juice. We think this beverage goes well with the Monarch appetizer, Truffle Drizzled Pomme Frites — handcut with parsley, parmesan, lemon aioli and artisan ketchup. Sweet meets salty.

The Monarch Flatbreads are a must-have at every table. On this occasion in particular we enjoyed the Pepperoni and Fresh Mozzarella Flatbread. A crispy crust is accompanied with San Marzano Tomato sauce, fresh mozzaralla cheese, pepperoni and oregano. The flavors and combinations are reflective of the old-world staple. Mouth-watering. We also suggest the Beef Sliders and Crab Cakes. These plates along with our other recommendations make for a filling meal before dancing the night away, theater or setting out for a night on the town.

Regardless if it’s date night, an after work stress relief, birthday, anniversary or just the chance to get your friends together, The Monarch Rooftop Lounge is the perfect place to meet up and revel in the fabulous views, awesome libations and tasty cuisine. As far as outdoor lounges go, Monarch rates sky-high on our lounge list.

Come out this spring/summer and discover what all the buzz is about.
