While the Ides of March, St. Patrick and March Madness habitually dominate the scene this month, there are alternative events, games and reasons for getting out of your stuffy apartment and ways to brush off the winter doldrums. 42West has an incredible lineup in the coming weeks with events that only New York City could produce.
If you haven’t heard of the Skivvies, you’ve been cooped up in your apartment wearing your flannel pajamas for too many months. This saucy and dynamic duo (Lauren Molina and Nick Cearley) shed a thread or two while dishing up some of the pluckiest performances and live music to take the stage — think witty, contemporary songs meet titillating showmanship.
On March 16th, they enter 42West and discard their outer layers with some of the greatest talent from Broadway, TV and Film. Keep a (semi) naked eye out for James Carpinello (Rock of Ages), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton, Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812), Adam Kantor (Rent, Next to Normal) Jessica Vosk (The Bridges of Madison County), Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago), Natalie Tenenbaum, Ephraim Sykes (Motown, Newsies, Memphis), Zak Resnick (Piece of my Heart, Mamma Mia!).
Where else can you hear the sounds of a cello, ukulele and glockenspiel, etc. performed by top musicians along with the city’s leading vocalists in their underwear? Ellen’s Stardust Diner? I think not.
Come out for food, friends and fun — the DJ starts the evening at 7:30: http://www.42WestNY.com/events
The Bachelorette Show is a brought to us by the people who created The Awesome 80s Prom. We know you’ve been there, ‘Marcia, Marcia, Marcia’. Every Saturday starting March 21, this spoof-tastic game show will introduce you to someone like Adriana Orlando and her gentlemen callers [Read: handsome buffoons]. The poor girl just wants to meet Mr. Right.
Will she choose, the Doctor, Saudi Prince, Wall Street Guy, the Air Force Pilot or some other Casanova? She won’t know because the audience decides the lucky guy in this interactive matchmaking fiasco and engagement-palooza.
Warning: The bachelors will dance and mingle about the room to get your votes. It’s all for fun and matrimonial bliss.
