The glitter and glue guns are out! The Swarovski crystals and spangles are being selected and the creativity is flowing in preparation for one of the most popular gatherings in New York. Celebrating its 35th year of parading thru the seaside streets in Brooklyn, The Mermaid Parade marches with design, fashion, music, family and frivolity on Saturday, June 17th, 2017.
It’s a celebration of art, freedom of expression and the beginning of the summer season. Bring out your best, your fins, wigs and fish tails and grab the most aquatic attention outside of the Atlantic Ocean. The Mermaid Parade will be marshaled by Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. This duo will be leading the throngs as the Queen Mermaid and King Neptune in a wonderful tradition only found in New York City.
Click on the link below for all you need to know to participate, become a sponsor or a costume judge and above all —- it starts at the respectable hour of 1:00 p.m. and runs into the wee hours after sunset depending on your fish shtick.
Did I mention that Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein will be attending?
