Backstage at Walter it was the Napoleon Perdis show. A charismatic and fun artist, Napoleon lent his make-up genius to transform the models into the perfect backdrop for Walter’s Spring 2011 collection. The collection is a soft, neutral palette of varying shades of gray, rose and tan with light comfortable fabric that looks as if you could even sleep in it.
“Walter was very much my inspiration. He’s very New York; he’s very wearable. The palette was fresh so I really wanted to create fresh skin,” said Napoleon.
To do that, each model’s skin was prepped with Auto Pilot Complex Skin Renewal Serum. “Not to prime is a crime,” Napoleon said. So of course, he used his Auto Pilot Pre-foundation Primer and then his airbrush spray foundation. I must say that all of the models had incredibly clean looking, dewy, fresh skin that made their make-up glow.
The eyes were done in Mesmer-eyes mascara and China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Alabaster, with eye shadows in metallic pink ice and silver.
The lips were given what Napoleon called a “bitten look,” very sexy, with berry colored lipstick in Devine Goddess Lianna and lip finish in Barely Blushing-Barely Rouge. Napoleon assured me that lipstick is back, so dust off your bold colors and try a fresh look.
Voila, the look by Napoleon for Walter can be worn from day into night by just increasing the amount of make-up. Even the hair was simple, with most models wearing it long, blown straight and parted in the middle.
Simple and wearable is a trend I can learn to love.
